Curtains in Stockholm start with a conversation about the room

We meet in our showroom at Sturegatan 20, online or in your home. A good way to start is to show us a photo of the window. Is it a bedroom where the curtains will be drawn every evening, or a living room where the panels mainly frame the window? That affects both the choice of fabric and how much fabric is needed.

We also look at whether the curtain will hang from a ceiling track or a pole. The width of the window is only one of the measurements; the final length of the curtain depends on where the fixing is placed and how close to the floor the fabric should end. We help you work that out before the sewing begins.

Choose fabric for the light at the window

A south-facing window and a window onto a shady courtyard make different demands. A plain linen such as Flynn gives a clear weave texture and lets light through differently from a denser velvet such as Curzon. If you want less light in the bedroom, we can talk about lining and blackout based on the fabric you choose.

On large windows, pattern matching shows clearly where the panels meet. Strawberry Thief has a repeating motif that needs to be placed with care. If you prefer a smaller pattern, take a look at Carlotta. We go through how the pattern should run across the curtain panels before we sew.

We make up curtains on our own premises

Once the measurements, fabric and fixing are decided, the work moves on to our own workroom in Östermalm. We use no middlemen or subcontractors abroad. That means questions about length, seams or pattern go straight to those of us who work on the curtains.

The heading affects how the curtain falls. Wave gives regular waves along the track. Sewn pleats give the fabric a different rhythm, while curtain hooks can be used to adapt the hanging to a track or rings. We go through which finish suits your window and how the curtains will be used. Read more about made-to-measure curtains.

From the workroom to installation in your home

When the curtains are finished, we help with the installation. We make sure the fixing ends up at the planned height and that the panels fall as intended. A curtain that ends just at the floor needs to be measured differently from one that should rest slightly on the floor. That is why measuring and installation go hand in hand.

If you have a narrower window where long curtain panels don’t fit, a Roman blind can be an alternative. It is made in any fabric from our range and can be coordinated with the other curtains in the room. Frequently asked questions

Where can I have curtains made in Stockholm?

At Brittfurn we sew curtains in our own workroom in Östermalm, Stockholm. We help you with measuring, choosing fabric and installation, so the same team follows the work from start to finish. The first meeting is free of charge and can take place in the showroom, online or in your home. Book an appointment.

Can you help measure and install curtains?

Yes, we help with both measuring and installing curtains. We look at the width of the window, the position of the fixing and how close to the floor the panels should end. That way the sewing can be adapted to the room from the outset. You can read about the process on the page for made-to-measure curtains.

Can I use a fabric I already have?

Contact us first, and we can assess whether your fabric is suitable for curtains. The width, quantity, weight and pattern repeat of the fabric all affect what can be sewn. Feel free to email details of the fabric to info@p1o5i9u3y7.shop or raise the question at a first meeting.

Do you make Roman blinds in Stockholm?

Yes, we make Roman blinds in any fabric from our range in our own workroom in Östermalm. A Roman blind can work well when you want to control privacy without long panels along the floor. If the room has several windows, you can choose the same fabric for different curtain styles. Read about Roman blinds.
