Duresta

Duresta has been making hand-built sofas, armchairs and footstools in Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire, since 1938. The town has a long tradition of upholstery, and every Duresta piece is still made to order by experienced craftspeople. No sofas or armchairs are produced for stock, which means every order is built and finished for the customer who will use it.

The frames are made from solid hardwood and assembled by hand. The fabrics are then cut by skilled staff with extensive experience of pattern matching, and several of the finishing stages are sewn by hand. It is a time-consuming process, but also a key reason for the furniture's durability. Duresta gives a 25-year guarantee on the frame, a concrete measure of how long the furniture is intended to be used.
