About us
The story behind the name
Brittfurn began with a passion for English furniture — and we have been at the same address, under the same name, since 1985. For more than four decades, Sturegatan 20 has been our home, something few interior design shops in Stockholm can match. The name is short for British furniture — a tribute to our roots as specialists in English furniture-making. For centuries, English furniture has been renowned for its uncompromising quality and solid craftsmanship: pieces built by hand, by experienced craftsmen, to last for generations.
We carry that heritage with us in everything we do. The English tradition, with its long history, has always stood for quality — and that is precisely the foundation we build on today. We now work with suppliers from all over the world, but the yardstick is always the same: uncompromising quality, solid craftsmanship and design that stands the test of time.
Our style: Modern Classics
Today we describe our style as Modern Classics — a modern twist on the classic style. It is about taking the best of the timeless — the proportions, the materials, the craftsmanship — and giving it an expression that feels alive in a home today. A classic sofa in an unexpected fabric. A traditional silhouette in a modern colourway. Rooms that feel elegant without becoming museum pieces.
And the purely classic style? We are, of course, still very good at that. It is where we come from, and for anyone seeking the timeless English look — a leather Chesterfield, a Howard sofa, a mahogany dining table — there are few in Sweden who know it better.
Our showroom in Östermalm
In the very heart of Östermalm, at Sturegatan 20, our showroom spans three floors — in the same location since 1985. Here you can see and touch the furniture, browse thousands of fabric and wallpaper samples and get personal advice from us.
The showroom is also home to our design studio, where you go through materials with us — fabrics, wallpapers, colours and finishes — and put together the whole scheme for your room or your home. Many of our customers come in with an idea and leave with an entire room. You are always welcome to drop in, whether you are looking for a single lamp or furnishing an entire home.
Interior design services and design process
Brittfurn is more than a shop — we work as interior architects for private clients, architects and businesses. Our design process always begins with your home and your needs:
- Free initial meeting — the first meeting is always free of charge and takes place either in the shop at Sturegatan 20 or online via Teams. Here we go through your vision and the project as a whole. Book an appointment here.
- Proposals and drawings — we produce a concrete interior design proposal with furniture, fabrics, wallpapers and lighting that work together. Through our interior architects, we also produce detailed drawings for the entire project: how the electrics should be installed, which walls should be moved and technical drawings for all the joinery — so that every tradesperson knows exactly what needs to be done.
- Bespoke — many of our pieces are made to measure and upholstered in the material of your choice. We have suppliers everywhere from Sweden and England to the rest of the world, and bring in the supplier best suited to your particular project.
- Delivery and styling — White Glove — we offer what we call White Glove: we take care of everything, including delivery, assembly, installation and whatever else is required, until the room is finished. Perfect if you live abroad or simply do not have the time.
With complete drawings in place, you can negotiate a fixed price with all the tradespeople before the project even begins — and get a clear picture of how long it will take at the same time. No surprises along the way.

Brittfurn is run by a small team with long experience of quality furniture, textiles and interior design projects — from single rooms to entire homes. We are not salespeople, we are advisers. Our ambition is for you to feel just as confident choosing a fabric from a distance as you would on a visit to the showroom.
