Tangier har ett tätt, upprepat mönster av sammanlänkade sexkanter i ljus kontur mot en djupt brun botten — ett marockanskt gallermönster översatt till en matta med tydlig struktur. Mönstret är litet i skalan, vilket gör att mattan läses som en textur snarare än som ett motiv.
Den är handknuten i Indien i huvudsak av jute, med inslag av ull och bomull.
