Romo

Romo was founded in 1902 in Nottinghamshire by Robert Mould and is still run by the same family, now in its fifth generation. That continuity shows in the range: the house has built on the same foundation rather than changing direction with every trend, and the qualities are designed to be combined across collections.

Linara is the house's best-known quality — a washable cotton and linen weave available in over 360 colours that has become one of the interiors world's most widely used staples. The brushed surface gives a softness you notice immediately, and the quality sums up well what Romo stands for: a sober palette, a tactile surface and a fabric that works just as well in a muted English room as in a light Scandinavian interior. Alongside the weaves are printed collections in the same subdued register.

Brittfurn offers Romo fabrics and Romo wallpapers. Linara and related qualities are often used as upholstery on sofas and armchairs where the fabric has to withstand daily use, and as curtain fabric where the drape matters more than the pattern. The broad colour range makes it possible to find the right tone even when the room already has strong colours in rugs or on the walls.
