One of the most common mistakes when it comes to curtains is hanging them too low, that is, close to the top of the window frame. This makes the room feel smaller and the ceiling lower.
By hanging your curtains high, you give the impression of a higher ceiling, which creates a sense of space and exclusivity in the room.

The width of your curtain pole or track will affect how large the window appears. So choose a track or pole that is wider than the window itself. A good guideline for a curtain pole is that it should extend 15–30 centimetres beyond the window on each side. That way, the curtains won't cover the window, block the view or reduce the light coming in.
Curtain tracks can happily run the full length of a wall – it creates a sense of space and flexibility! If you have two or more windows close together, it can be a good idea to have an odd number of curtain drops rather than several pairs; that way you create symmetry and harmony.
